Don't Be a F^ckt*rd: Bicyclist

You know who likes bicyclists on the road? Other bicyclists. That's it. And that's a maybe, with a huge question mark.

You know who doesn't like helmet-wearing, spandex-clad, entitled douche bags on bikes? EVERYONE who drives, that's who.

"Oh, but we must respect their right of way."

"They have just as much right to be on the road as any other vehicle."

Really? If that's true, then they should have to observe all the same responsibilities as all the other vehicles on the road.

But, I've seen bikes zip through stop signs and red lights, without concern for oncoming traffic.

I've seen bikes swerve, making traffic stop for them. For no apparent reason. Unless you count the obvious motivation of exerting power from a ten-speed over the multi-ton vehicles around them.

I've seen it. I've been on the receiving end of such tactics. It's bad enough that bicyclists make me slow down SO much when I end up behind them. And it's even worse when there's a whole slew of them, taking up the road and making it impossible to pass them for long stretches at a time. But, when they swerve out off of the shoulder and into the road to make me have to go further into the other lane and have the legal space needed to get by, that's just plain stupid.

Want to share the road? Fine. But then you have to stop provoking drivers. And you have to get your head out of your ass and pay attention to traffic. Being on a bike doesn't make you invincible.
