You know when it's a good time to disagree with established Western Medicine? When you're talking to your friends and family. Or, when you're writing your own blog or recording your own podcast.
It's not a good time to argue medicinal practices when you're in the doctor's office, or on the phone with medical staff, or in the goddamn hospital. These are not appropriate venues to spout your beliefs about health.
And, if you are going to mistrust Westernized medicine, be informed. Do your research. Be thorough in your approach. That way, you come off as intelligent, and not like a loon.
I'm not saying that you can't seek alternative health solutions. Hell, I'm not even trying to imply one philosophy is better than the other. There are kooks who ascribe to either modern medicine or to alternative healing.
There are those who blindly follow the advice of Western doctors. Who take ungodly amounts of pills and who spend their days going from one doctor visit to another, one specialist after the next. Always seeking attention, never really getting relief.
Then, there are those who have a little information and a lot of confidence in the rightness of their actions. They read an article on how to relieve something. It worked, and now they're experts on alternative health.
Neither is really going to be healthy for that individual. Like I've already said, I don't care one way or the other. But, you should care about your health. It's YOUR health, after all. Be informed, make intelligent decisions. And, let others make their own decisions about their health.
Don't be a Fucktard.
